Let's begin the journey—your Backyard Pod is waiting!
Backyard Pod Process
Initial Conversation
Once you fill out the contact form, a pod specialist will reach out to you. During the meeting, we'll learn about you and your project, answer any questions, walk you through the process, and help you get started with the next steps.
Feasibility Report
After the initial conversation, your pod specialist will email you key details about the Backyard Pod process and a form to fill out. This form provides our permit team with the information needed to conduct a feasibility report. Once you complete the form and attach your survey, our team will quickly assess the feasibility of adding a pod to your property.
Site Visit
Once we confirm that we can build a pod on your property, your pod specialist will connect you with your project manager. The project manager will schedule a site visit to assess your property, map out the location for your pod, and measure for necessary hookups.
Estimate
After your site visit, we will provide you with a detailed estimate and a terms and conditions form for your signature. Your pod specialist will follow up to ensure the estimate meets your expectations and address any remaining questions. Once you approve the estimate and sign the terms and conditions form, our accounting team will send you the deposit invoice.
Deposit and Welcome Package
Once the deposit is paid ($500 for non-permitted jobs and $2,500 for permitted jobs), you will receive a welcome package with color and customization options. Our in-house team of architects and engineers will then start creating your custom plans. With all the hard work handled by us, you can sit back and relax while we bring your project to life!
Permits (Pod’s with bathrooms or over 200 sqft)
After we receive your deposit, your main point of contact will be your project manager. They will oversee everything before construction begins, ensuring permits are handled and the project runs smoothly. Your project manager will also provide weekly updates on your project's progress.
We’ll send you the final pod plans for your approval. Once you’re satisfied with the design, we’ll submit the plans for permits. The permit process can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, with Austin, TX typically taking about 4-6 months. We will work closely with the city to ensure all permits are approved and that we comply with all regulations and guidelines.
Permit Approval
Once we receive city approval to build your pod, we’ll schedule your installation and provide you with a tentative kick-off date. Our team will review everything to ensure we’re ready to proceed with the next exciting steps.
Constructing Your Pod
Now we can start building your pod! Pods without bathrooms typically take 4-8 weeks to complete, while those with bathrooms take about 3-5 months. Our construction crews will work efficiently, minimizing disruption while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship. You will have a dedicated superintendent as your main point of contact who will oversee the project and ensure everything progresses smoothly. The superintendent will also provide weekly check-ins to keep you updated throughout the entire construction period and promptly address any issues that arise.
Pod Completion and Warranty
We’ll schedule a final walk-through with you to ensure your pod is perfect. Once we receive your final payment, your warranty will activate. Our warranty includes:
1-Year Bumper-to-Bumper: Covers any issues with the pod.
2-Year Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical: Covers specifics related to these systems.
10-Year Structural: Covers any structural issues that could affect safety.
With everything in place, your pod is now ready for you to enjoy!
